Weed Identification

The importance of weed identification

Weed identification is the first step in developing a successful control program.  Weeds in turf are often mowed or not fully developed which may limit the ability to identify the species.  Weed samples can be sent to us for growing in the greenhouse to assist with identification.  Additionally, soil samples can be collected and planted in trays to help identify weeds that germinate in the greenhouse.  Seedlings established in these soil samples can help turf managers prepare preventative programs for the weed species identified.
